SYNOPSIS
This in-person class will include a Q&A and a prepared reading session with NY based filmmaker and casting professional, Mo Faramawy.
Participating actors will prepare and perform a scene assigned by the casting professional.
ABOUT MO
Mo Faramawy is an Egyptian Canadian writer, programmer, and filmmaker with over 15 years of experience spanning pre-production, development, post-production, and distribution. His approach to filmmaking is rooted in collective, community-driven work that creates space for artists to cultivate their talents and support one another.
From 2016 to 2024, Mo held multiple roles at Beech Hill Films, a New York-based independent production company. With founder Alexa L. Fogel and producing partner Brendan Mason, he developed feature films, series, and podcasts for studios including National Geographic, FX, and Starz. He associate produced the Netflix original documentary ‘A Secret Love’.
Under Fogel – an Emmy award-winning and BAFTA nominated Casting Director – Mo served on the casting departments for television series including ‘Pose’, ‘Atlanta’, and ‘Clipped’, as well as feature films like ‘Rob Peace’, ‘Creed III’, and the Academy Award Winning ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’.
Before Beech Hill, Mo worked on independent projects as an assistant director, producer, and editor, with a focus on short-form filmmaking. He has studied and directed films in France, Cuba, and Turkey and the United States where he is now based.
He is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Manassat Film Festival, a platform that spotlights emerging talent through an accessible program that has celebrated the work of Egyptian artists since 2015. Mo is currently in post-production on a nonfiction film that documents a Cairo based experimental theatre troupe in the weeks leading up to the opening of their latest show.
